While I know there is a Folk Festival in Bangor, for those of us who don’t want to drive that far, we’re in luck! There’s a music festival in Belfast too! Belfast Bay Music Fest goes from 2-10 p.m., takes place at Steamboat Landing, and features every musical genre ever. OK, maybe not every genre, but a good mix including Jim Dandy (punk), Eric Green Party (blues), Trisha Mason Band (folk), Juke Rockets (blues) and more!  Tickets $20 at the gate. The Internet Cat Video Festival and Fair in Rockland starts at 5 p.m. and will feature a cat costume contest, games, art activities, food vendors and more goofy cat-themed fun. At around 8 p.m., they will play internet cat videos. Don’t ask me why. But that’s what they are doing. Event is hosted by the Farnsworth, will take place at Harbor Park, in Rockland, and is open and free to the public. Click for more info.
Rockland’s Roller Derby team presents The Bee’s Knees – Doors at 5 p.m., they roll at 6 p.m. Get tix in advance for $8, or $10 at the door. Event info. Halftime show includes jeerleaders, drive by todd and mid-coast hoop jammers.

Barnstormers Ball at Owls Head Transportation Museum Aug 23 6:30 p.m. Music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. (Some day I will learn how to spell hors d’oeuvres.) The Carmine Terracciano Band will entertain ya. A fun evening for those who want to celebrate 1920s decadence, enjoy silent auctions and more. Click for more info.

Boyhood opens at the Strand Theatre in Rockland! I’m so excited for this movie. Not just because it looks like an incredibly moving coming of age story. But because the movie was filmed over a decade so we watch the actors grow up as the story progresses. So cool! The Strand will be playing it through the end of the month. Tickets $8.50.

If you’re looking for more stuff to do in the midcoast, check out my other site for a listing of what bands play where this weekend here.

About Jessabelle Lemonade

Jessabelle Lemonade is a twenty-something who enjoys live music. She realized that there wasn't a place to check what nightlife events, live music, etc., would be happening around the Midcoast and she thought someone ought to do something about that. So she did.
